The fifth annual Record Store Day falls this year on April 21. (This event is always held on the third Saturday of April each year).
This year’s special limited releases that day will include a a 7-inch picture vinyl of David Bowie’s “Starman” on the A-side, backed with a recording of the track from his famed 1972 British TV appearance (Top of The Pops).
Also of Bowie-note that day will be the Flaming Lips double album, “Thee Flaming Lips and Heavy Fwends,” featuring collaborations with the likes of Coldplay’s Chris Martin, Bon Iver, Ke$ha, Nick Cave, My Morning Jacket’s Jim James, Yoko Ono, Erykah Badu and Biz Markie. It will be pressed on multi-colored vinyl, with tracks including “I’m Working at NASA on Acid” and “Is David Bowie Dying?”

David Bowie Starman

Very tempted by this single…if it’s available…
Well, you could order at Fives! (Or Sister Ray, if you need to.) Let me know if you get it. BTW, annoyingly the B-side is marked ‘Top of Pops’ instead of ‘Top of the Pops’. We pedants demand the right info.
Sister Ray had a queue going around the corner when I walked past that day. As much as I’d love to get it, I haven’t got a record player any more…sigh
Vinyl is so warm. But so impractical, when you can have your lifetime’s music in a little iPod. Still, I’d love to have that ‘Starman’! Just to look at it!
Me too. I may have a wonder down to Sister Ray this weekend, and see if they still have some copies left
